Mark L. Gerber, 58, of Bardstown, KY died Wednesday January 7, 2009 at his residence. He was born June 13, 1950 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, worked 12 years of civil service for the U.S. Navy, a baseball umpire for 10 years and played baseball as a semi-pro, a member of the American Legion Post # 121 and was an U.S. Army Veteran during the Vietnam era.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Leroy Gerber.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Gerber of Bardstown, KY; son, Edward Gerber of Cresco, Iowa; two daughters, Jaimee Gerber of New Jersey and Jennifer Gerber of Hardin County, Kentucky; step-son, Matthew Hicks of New Haven, KY; brother, William Gerber of North Carolina; great-Aunt Dee Fisher of Woodbury Heights, New Jersey; and several grandchildren.
His graveside service will be 11:00 am Monday January 12, 2009 at Kentucky Veteran’s Cemetery, Radcliff. Rev. Karl Lusk will officiate.
Memorial contributions may go to Hospice of Nelson County.

January 8, 2009 Just wanted to send my condolences on Mark's passing. He and I were good friends and classmates at Woodbury High from 1964 to 1968. I had lost touch with him after high school and didn't realize that he was living in Kentucky-I went to school at the University of Kentucky in Lexington and lived there for a few years after-was even in Bardstown a few times.
